When I was a postdoc in Steve Mayo’s lab at Caltech I experienced an absolutely phenomenal day. In October of 2000 Geoffrey Hom, Possu Huang and I had the most outrageous fortune of being able to visit the Paramount set of Star Trek Voyager. Geoff had a Pokemon friend who worked as a makeup artist on the set of the Star Trek series Voyager. He took us on an awesome tour and we got to meet (and chat a bit with) Tim Russ (Tuvok), Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim), Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Parris) and Ethan Phillips (Neelix). We also saw Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway) and Roxann Dawson (B’Elanna Torres). Everyone was really friendly and we had a great time meeting them and also seeing how Geoff’s friend Scott works his trade as a makeup artist. We also got to watch the filming of a scene for an episode which aired later that season (2000).
